CLADE™ Workbench – Visualise sample quality, instantly

Assess sample quality quickly by visualising full FTIR spectra, and make fast go/no go decisions prior to data analysis with QA Scan.

CLADE Sphere

The CLADE™ Workbench data analytics tool gives biopharma analytical teams fast, visual insight into the quality of their samples.

As it provides visibility over the entire FTIR spectra and delivers Principle Component Analysis (PCA), the Workbench tool helps spot low quality samples early on.

This saves time, resources, and model development efforts.

Early quality checks save time

FTIR spectra of aqueous biologics formulations include huge amount of data and many overlapping signals. Evaluating these spectra manually takes time and effort. Smart chemometric software solutions such as CLADE™ Sphere remove this bottleneck – they allow for fast and reliable data processing with minimal user intervention, providing actionable information for decision making.

Make confident early decisions on data quality

The CLADE™ Workbench data analytics tool provides insight into complete FTIR spectra, helping teams determine whether samples meet the quality threshold needed for further data processing in high fidelity models like CLADE™ QA Scan.

1. Visualise complete FTIR spectra

View the entire acquired spectra and normalize them to quickly spot low quality samples, unexpected peaks, or other anomalies - before committing to full data processing.

2. Overlay spectra to spot quality issues

Overlay spectra of different samples or replicates, perform averaging, subtraction or addition operations.

FTIR Spectra Workbench

Figure 1. The plot shows the overlay of normalised FTIR spectra of two samples: a placebo (blue) and a full formulation sample (orange). We also performed averaging (green) and subtraction (red) operations.

3. Run Principal Component Analysis (PCA) to visualise and identify outliers

  • Check for differences between samples by examining how they separate on the PCA score plots.

  • Visualise the root cause of sample differences with PCA loading plots.

PC Score Plot

Figure 2. The scoreplot shows the distribution of the analyzed spectra along the selected principal components.

Scree Plot Workbench

Figure 3. A scree plot shows how much variance of the analyzed spectra are described by each Principal Component.

The Workbench features allow you to perform quality checks on spectra before fully processing the data as well as identify root cause for any anomalies.

Designed for analytical scientists who need rapid go/no go decisions

Workbench is ideal for biopharma R&D and analytics teams who:

  • Need early quality checks to avoid wasting time on bad data
  • Are building chemometric models and require reliable spectral data and replicates
  • Want a visual way to investigate outliers or anomalies
  • Need fast QC during formulation development or troubleshooting

How CLADE™ Workbench delivers early spectral insights

CLADE™ Workbench enables visualisation of FTIR spectra, allowing rapid checks of sample quality before deeper analysis.

It provides instant spectral views, PCA based interpretation, and subtraction tools for isolating protein signals.

Users can apply early quality gating before data enters Sphere or QA Scan, reducing the risk of poor quality samples affecting downstream analytical workflows.

CLADE™ Workbench supports early stage decision making in:

Pre‑QA Scan sample assessment

Troubleshooting anomalous batches

Instrument performance investigations

Early quality checks on replicates for model building

Outlier identification
